The late 1990s brought a period of rapid progression and wide deployment of optical communication systems. The advancement in networking technology also accelerated the shift towards globalization and opened up opportunities for companies to establish multinational operations to increase capacity and efficiency by utilizing oversea resources.

On December 31, 1999, DiCon Fiberoptics officially incorporated its first fully owned overseas subsidiary, Global Fiberoptis, in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The southern Taiwan location was selected for its pool of quality and stable workforce. The area was also picked because DiCon’s founder, Dr. Ho-Shang Lee, grew up and lived in the region till he completed his college education at the National Cheng Kung University, where he received the “Distinguished Alumni” recognition in 2024.

In the years that followed, Global Fiberoptics expanded far beyond a fiber optic component assembler and developed into a multifaceted company with vertical manufacturing capabilities (from fabricating chip sets, packaging components, integrating modules, to building complex systems with advanced electronics and intuitive software interface) and strong engineering and logistics teams.

Today’s Global Fiberoptics produces top notch products from start to finish, initiates designs for innovative products, pushes product performance to the physical limit, and services customers worldwide.
